Active, Evidence-Based Therapy
My treatment approach is best for those with a high level of motivation to change for the better.
This is because I employ a very active, accelerated model of psychotherapy, combining my training in cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness using a psychodynamic framework. Your own commitment and courage will help shorten the course of treatment.
The resulting program of intensive short-term dynamic therapy (ISTDP) helps people achieve positive and lasting change, rapidly.

Initial Phone Consultation (No Charge)
Prior to your first appointment, I offer a 20-minute phone consultation at no cost during which you can describe your situation and the difficulties you are experiencing. This conversation will allow you to understand more fully how I believe I can help you overcome your difficulties as quickly as possible.
As a result of our conversation, we can evaluate whether we are a good fit to one another.
First Session
Our initial session is an extended one: two hours and 15 minutes in length. During this session, we will carefully and thoroughly investigate the issues you are experiencing.
You are likely to experience an immediate reduction in symptoms, and an awareness of self-defeating patterns. Together, we will develop a mutual and concrete understanding of your treatment goals and precise steps you can take to achieve them both during and between sessions.
Subsequent Sessions
If we mutually agree that additional sessions will be of value to you, we will schedule them following our first appointment. We can set the frequency and length of sessions depending on what fits your unique goals, schedule and budget.
You can expect that I will work actively with you in a compassionate, attentive, and productive way. We will help you to develop healthier ways of treating yourself, achieve closeness in the relationships you wish to deepen, and increase your enjoyment of life.

Therapeutic Approach
Intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP) facilitates rapid resolution of a broad spectrum of psychological symptoms and disorders. It was developed to overcome obstacles that most therapies cannot accomplish rapidly (or at all.)
Recent research has strongly supported the approach. From my clinical experience, it is the most effective treatment available because it integrates the state-of-the art in cognitive-behavioral techniques while working from a psychodynamic base.
My approach integrates skills and tools from my training in:
